Friday we were to visit Reykjavik -- we would be tied up at port, so it should be easier to get ashore.

| Information was posted on the TV with the position at which we had seen the solar eclipse on Wednesday. |

| We were watching the bow camera as the Celebrity Silhouette cruise ship parallel parked at the pier right in front of our ship. |
Carl was still in quite a bit of pain, so we decided to see what we could see of Reykjavik from the ship...

| Another cruise ship -- Ambassador line -- was also at port. |

| This beautiful island was just off our starboard side... |

Since we were onboard when a lot of passengers were off the ship, we got to experience the crew emergency training -- we were told to ignore emergency alarms and signals...

| ...when we left our room, we saw the emergency floor lighting... |
.jpg) |
| ... including the lighting that indicated the emergency exits. |
The city center was a bit of a ways from our pier location, so we got off and just walked around briefly onshore...

| It was quite windy and chilly, so we didn't spend much time on shore, but we did "put our feet on dirt", our personal criteria for being able to say we visited a place. |
 |
| The evening entertainment was Bengt Washburn... |
.jpg) |
| ... he was quite funny! |

| As we left Reykjavik (about 10pm), the sun had just set... |
.jpg) |
| Celebrity Silhouette was still at the pier -- this was their disembarking/embarking day. |
.jpg) |
| Another view of the Celebrity ship -- it is the same "class" of ship as the Solstice that we were on last year from Sydney to Honolulu. |

| Note the ferris wheel on the shore side of the city |

We were sorry to miss out on visiting Reykjavik, but are considering taking a land trip back to be able to stay several days, at some point in the future.
