Delaware Seashore State Park South Campground

We wanted a campsite to stop near Cousin George, and found that there was a state park along the coast. Unfortunately, the weather was not very conducive to visiting the beach; there were coastal flood warnings due to the fact that there was a higher-than-normal high tide and a storm off the coast pushing more water in. When we arrived on Monday afternoon, we found water over the road (but more like puddles) in to the campground, but just past the campground, there was a road that was temporarily impassable due to high water, and some of the campsites were temporarily under water.

We went for a walk around the campground before we left on Tuesday morning:

The campground was nice but sites were generally pretty compact. It felt like a large parking lot.

We thought this looked like a short rig to have a tag axle -- the name on the outside indicated it to be a Country Coach Allure 470, and, from what I can find online, they are 42' long, but this one looked quite short.

Bridge over the Indian River Inlet -- which was right in front of the campground.

These were some of the sites that had been under water at high tide on Monday.

Another view of the bridge - it had pretty lights in the evening.

A friend of ours, Bob Myers, took this picture of the Indian River Inlet bridge back in September when the harvest moon was rising.

When I contacted Bob to get permission to share his picture on this blog entry, he provided me with another one too, this one taken from the south side, probably close to where we were camped!

A view out of Gracie's front window on Tuesday morning -- grey and rainy -- it would have been a nice view if the sun had been out!

Although it was overcast, we were happy with where we had camped and think it could be a place we'd like to return to visit!
