The winter bocce ball leagues started the first full week of January. We missed the first week while we were in Quartzsite, and had arranged for substitutes. One of our subs showed up (the guy), the lady did not show up -- but our partners found another person to sub... as it turned out, the team they were to play did not have a full team, so the other team had to forfeit, so we won our first match (in absentia).

We played and our team won, but not much due to our contributions! Carl and I had thrown a few balls to try to get used to the new courts (they were re-surfaced over the summer), but I can't say we played stellar games! Our partners carried us through!
