Fire safety

The Safety and Security team at Venture Out has arranged for several lectures for the residents on areas of safety and/or security.

A firefighter, Shawn, from one of the local departments came to talk with us about Fire Safety. He identified some of the common causes of fires and how we can be better prepared to survive a fire in our park models.

One of the things that one of the participants had brought to ask about at the talk was a fire blanket. Shawn said that he thought that is a good thing to have in our kitchens. They are packaged to be attached to the inside of a cabinet door and to be able to be easily removed to cover a fire that might be on the stove. It seems to me that might be easier to use than a fire extinguisher, and Shawn indicated that they are also re-usable; after smothering a fire, it could be folded back up and replaced in the package on the door of the cabinet. Something to look into further!
