We went back into Florence on Saturday to see if the weekend market was going to be open -- it was an overcast day and rain was possible, but it was one of the better days since we've been here...
... sure enough, the vendors were set up! |
It wasn't a farmers market though - jewelry and various handmade items.
Boats along the harborfront |
We have our family radio service (FRS) walkie-talkie tuned in that has weather service alerts, and we have our phones set to give us weather alerts -- since tsunami come from earthquakes, possibly at a distance away, theoretically we could get notification and be able to head to higher ground. The brown areas indicate danger areas for a far earthquake, the additional yellow areas indicate danger areas for a "local" earthquake along the Oregon coast.
When we were looking at the sign there at the harborfront, a local artist came up and talked with us for a little bit - when I mentioned that Carl had read about the possibility of a large tsunami, she looked startled and said, "Oh, I hope that's many years away!"
