We left Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country near Manheim, Pennsylvania, last Friday, heading west...
Looking down the loop where we were parked (I had moved the Jeep to be in front of our neighbor while we were getting Gracie out)... |
... and looking out toward the end of the loop where we would exit. |
We had seen a motorhome having a very tough time negotiating a turn in the campground a few days before, and were a little concerned about having the Jeep hooked up while we were leaving, but we examined the route we would take and felt that Gracie could do it with the Jeep hooked up (we aren't supposed to back up with the Jeep attached). Carl pulled out while I was watching (there were a number of trees to avoid), and don't you know, before I could even get into the Jeep to get it pulled behind Gracie, two vehicles came along one right after the other, obviously wanting to get out as quickly as possible! Most of the roads in this campground are just one lane wide, but Carl found a spot in front of other rigs where he could pull over far enough that the other two vehicles could get by. We got the Jeep hooked up and made our way out safely.
This campground, like many others, had *lots* of boulders placed around the campground -- they certainly help to keep people from driving on grassy areas where the campground doesn't want vehicles to be driven, but they are nearly impossible to see from up high in a motorhome, or even when they are right behind the Jeep when we're driving it!
We got on I-76, Pennsylvania Turnpike, heading west... |
There were three different tunnels through mountains that we went through on the route... |
... it was nice not to have to climb the mountains and then come down them again!
... then continued on into Ohio. |
We got to our campground in Ohio on Friday afternoon with a planned 1-week stay.
