Lancaster Central Market

On Sunday, we moved to Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country near Manheim, PA and are exploring the areas around the area.

On Monday, we drove up to Reading to do some errands. We went to uBreakiFix/Asurion to have them look at Carl's phone -- unfortunately they think it is a failed motherboard and Google no longer provides replacement motherboards to them to work on the phones, so our recourse is to work with Google on a solution (it is a Google Pixel 5A). Evidently the problem is rather common, so that causes us some concerns (particularly since mine is the same type of phone!). We also visited Ollie's Bargain Outlet (Carl likes their coffee options), a Chinese Buffet, Sam's Club (rotisserie chicken!), and a Walgreens to pick up a prescription.

On Tuesday, we drove into Lancaster. We went to PetSmart to return some cat food that we had purchased for Miss Kitty and which she no longer eats. She has eaten anything I gave her for 12 years, and suddenly has become finicky. I talked with the lady who was parked next to us at Water's Edge near Gros Morne in Newfoundland (who also had a cat) since I was trying all sorts of food and Miss Kitty was just not eating any of them very well. She said that her cat liked Friskies Indoor Cat Chicken Pate and gave me a can to try, and, amazingly, Miss Kitty liked that! A guy in a pet food store had also recommended frozen raw food, so we have her eating those two at this point. Anything else we've tried has pretty much been a bust. So, I had quite a number of cans and a huge bag of kibbles of the prescription food that she was on (which I had gotten so I wouldn't run out while we were in Canada - not knowing that she would decide it was no longer edible!) -- so we returned all of that to PetSmart. One of the pet food stores in Canada that we visited, when I confessed that she would only eat the Friskies said, "Oh, that's like feeding her McDonald's all the time! But... if that's all she'll eat..." When I told the cashier at PetSmart that she would only eat "McDonald's" she said, "Oh, Friskies?" Oh well, better that she eats something, I guess!

Unfortunately, the raw food that she likes seems to be only available in Canada. I got an extra box before we left Canada, but... I'm hoping I can find something she'll like in the US. The product from Canada has *only* chicken (meat, bones, liver, hearts). The frozen raw chicken food that I found in PetSmart has a lot of other ingredients too:

... maybe cats need some other ingredients too, but I have always heard that cats are true carnivores (unlike dogs, which also need vegetable and grain intake).

Anyway, we got some "McDonald's" aka Friskies at PetSmart to start spending down the gift card that we got returning the prescription food (since we didn't have the receipts from when we purchased it).

Then we headed downtown to Lancaster Central Market...

... it is in downtown Lancaster and is said to be America's longest running market, continuously operated since 1730. https://centralmarketlancaster.com/

There is quite a selection of different items - meat and breads...

... cheeses and vegetables...

...gifts and homemade goods.

We enjoyed walking around the market and got some homemade soft pretzels to eat and pickles to bring home.

One last stop at Costco and then we headed back to the campground.
