Some random pictures around Quartzsite

Just a few random pictures...

We had a number of to-do's to get accomplished on Wednesday -- take the trash to the transfer station (it is open Sunday-Wednesday), get propane (though we realized as we were driving toward town that we had forgotten the propane tank, so that wasn't going to happen), refill one of our 7-gallon drinking water reservoirs (from an RO dispenser outside the Coyote Fresh Market), and...

... get fuel for the Jeep. When we pulled into the gas station, the fellow in front of us was putting fuel into his 5th wheel -- hmmm? We figured it might be for fueling "toys" - a lot of people bring off-road vehicles, motorcycles, etc. Carl went up to talk with him about how big a tank he had -- it has an 18 gallon tank, and he doesn't have "toys" - it is for his 5th wheel's onboard generator.

So, we got our errands completed except getting propane -- Carl went back later in the day to get propane. Interesting info: the vendor at the propane place said that there may be fewer sellers of propane in future days in town because a "sting" had been run. A purchaser came in with 3 propane tanks -- 2 old and ratty looking, and one brand new looking tank -- turns out that the brand new looking tank was out-of-date and not re-certified. The vendor refused to fill the out-of-date tank and the "purchaser" (an inspector from the state of Arizona) congratulated him and said that his competitors were not as observant of the law. That had happened earlier in the day on Wednesday before Carl went to get our tank filled. We all were checking the dates on our propane tanks - as I understand it, they need to be within 12 years of the date of manufacture, and can be re-certified for an additional 5 years of use.

Since the weather was anticipated to be quite cold on Thursday, we decided to have a fire on Wednesday evening (with our newly filled propane tank!) -- even though it did not feel all that cold, when we got inside, it was only down to 54F, we got *very* chilled and it took us both a long time to get warmed up once we got inside!

On Friday morning, we awoke to the sound of raindrops on our roof...

... looking out the window to the west saw a rainbow -- one end...

... to the other! Carl wanted to drive out and see if a Prevost or other high-end RV was at the end of the rainbow, but we decided it probably was not worth it!

It was only a few sprinkles, but the wind was also blowing so all our vehicles now have black rain spots on them!

A few days ago, I had baked drop biscuits and Carl had made sausage gravy with the delicious sausage that we got from Coyote Fresh Market.

Carl's plate on Thursday morning... before (well, after one or two bites)...

... and after!

Thursday was a blustery day -- we decided it would be best for our group to eat inside. I made a large pot (actually, two Instant Pot's full) of Chicken soup -- with the noodles cooked separately for those who aren't eating carbs. Nancy made Broccoli Cheese soup. Folks ate in both of our rigs. It was a good day for soup!

Just a sampling of some of what we are doing and experiencing!
