Monday - day 4 - Kristiansand, Norway - part 1

On Monday we arrived in Kristiansand, Norway. Gage had given us information about Kristiansand during his Sunday talk...

Gage's talk had told us that the town was very walkable from the ship.

We went to one of the upper outer decks to take some pictures -- of the town...

... looking out across the water.

We walked around the jogging track and found the information on how many laps make a mile.

We also found a couple of elliptical machines and we each tried them out.

The jogging track and the retractable roof over the pool area -- partially retracted.

Looking down into the pool area

We got off the ship to walk into town -- strong ropes / cables holding us to shore.

The theater in Kristiansand

A yacht pulled up outside the theater area -- it turns out that it is the royal yacht, the king and queen had also come in this morning, and some of our fellow passengers got to see them.

We walked through the fish market...

... various food options (the Norwegian Krona is worth about $0.10, so take 10% of the price for equivalent in US dollars).

Fish to buy to take home...

... more fish to buy (we cannot take any non-packaged food back onto the ship, so not for us).

Heads and fins for sale!

We walked on up toward town...

We had heard that the town burned many times in the past (frame buildings) - many built back with more durable materials.

A caravan (RV) -- we've seen a few of these van-type RVs. With the narrowness of the roads and small towns, you wouldn't want anything very large.

Pedestrian plaza and shopping

This is a fire hydrant (we thought it looked odd!).

More in another blog post...
