Monday in London and Greenwich - part 1

Monday, we decided to head east to Greenwich to visit the Royal Observatory.

We decided to again take a bus -- it was better this time in that we didn't have long to wait to get on the bus, but... it was having to follow a diversion (detour) so it took quite a bit longer than we thought it would to get to our stop at London Bridge. It was not very full at all, so we ended up sitting in the very front top level row, which gave us a front row seat to the traffic and how close we got to other vehicles!

Crossing London Bridge

An interesting building ("The Shard") we saw from the bus as we were crossing London Bridge

Same building ("The Shard") closer up as it was very close to the London Bridge bus station

We went downstairs under street level to an "underground" mall type area -- Carl took a picture of the offerings at the coffee shop.

We headed to the London Bridge wharf as we wanted to take the Uber Boats by Thames Clipper to Greenwich.

View of the buildings across the Thames

Our boat coming in

We passed the HMS Belfast (a part of the Imperial War Museums) docked in the Thames.

We passed under Tower Bridge

As we got to Greenwich, we saw the Cutty Sark, a historic tea clipper, now a museum.

More about the Royal Observatory in the next post!
