Sunday in London - part 3

Wrapping up Sunday in London (part 1: https://journeyinamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2026/07/sunday-in-london-part-1.html, part 2: https://journeyinamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2026/07/sunday-in-london-part-2.html), we had gotten tickets for Titanique a couple of weeks before we came to London, so we headed to The Criterion Theater near Piccadilly Circus.

Inside the theater - I was confused about the start time of the show - every other night, it starts at 7:30pm, and I had initially started booking another night, so my calendar entry indicated 7:30pm. But, on Sundays, it starts at 7pm, and we barely made it to our seats before the show started!

The premise of the musical is that 

Titaníque is the Olivier Award-winning, campy musical comedy that retells the story of the 1997 film Titanic through the iconic discography of Céline Dion. The smash-hit show is currently running in London at the Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly Circus, where it has been celebrated as the West End's funniest musical. 

The narrative kicks off when Céline Dion herself unexpectedly takes over a Titanic museum tour, claiming she survived the ill-fated voyage and insisting on narrating "what really happened" that night. The hysterical, high-energy production features powerhouse vocals, a full live band, and belt-heavy renditions of Dion's biggest hits like "My Heart Will Go On," "All by Myself," and "To Love You More".

We weren't sure what to expect. It did have humorous components, but a lot of the humor related to popular culture (maybe more popular British culture) of which we were not aware. It also had a lot of sexual references (which, if I had done more research ahead of time, I could have found out and maybe we would have given it a pass). We enjoyed it, but not as much as I might have hoped! 

We were told no pictures or videos during the show, but at the end, the actress playing Celine Dion encouraged us to take pictures and/or videos of the last song...

The actress playing Celine Dion had her mannerisms and look done so well that she could probably pass for Celine Dion on the street (other than the fact that I think Celine Dion now is looking quite aged).

When we left the theater, we were done with walking for the day, and headed for the tube. 

Piccadilly Circus station was right outside the theater so we headed for the Piccadilly line...

... down a very long escalator...

... to the platform...

... where the train came pretty quickly...

... and we were able to get going on our ride back to our hotel. We had to change trains to the Northern line, and then we had a short walk back to our hotel.

We were away from the hotel all day long (no naps today!). Our body clocks are being forced to adjust!
