A Visit to Casey and Environs - Part 4 (final!)

We arrived at Jimmy and Regina's farm in Virginia this afternoon (Thursday) and are hoping to get started tomorrow on the work to get Miss Doozie ready for her pictures! Today, I'll just post an entry that I wrote a few days ago that will finish up our trip to visit Casey (and Marshall), Illinois.

To finish up the story of our visit to Casey, the last two "big things" in Casey were a little out of town:

A big golf tee at the Country Club - a little hard to see, and I only got one picture because my phone battery died!

A big pitchfork at a restaurant outside of town...

...another view of the pitchfork

We then drove further east very near the roadbed of the National Road to the county seat in Marshall, Illinois

At the courthouse was the big gavel

Unfortunately no way to get a good picture without the columns in the way!

The downtown area of Marshall around the court house had really pretty fronts to the buildings...

... looking down the street to the east.

I thought these screens / shades in the windows of this building making it look like people playing musical instruments inside was interesting!

We thoroughly enjoyed our day visiting the town of Casey and some of the areas around - we drove through Paris (Illinois) on our way so I guess that added an international flavor to our journey!
