Moo-moo videos

Yesterday afternoon, Carl and I walked out to look at the cows - they were in the pasture near where we are parked. When we first got out there, we thought that there were only the momma cows - we only saw a couple of calves. But, as we watched, little heads popped up out of the grass where the babies had bedded down and multiple calves got up to get a snack / meal / sustenance.

This little one was nursing from a rather precarious location, it would seem. Jimmy related to us that our Mom used to say that she would like to ask God why all the plumbing components were located so close together -- wouldn't it be more sanitary if the udder was more up-front?

This one was the video Carl took...

Maybe the rear entry access to nurse makes it easier when the momma cow wants to walk while the baby is eating?

You might hear an electronic sound towards the end of that video - that's when I was starting mine:

At the end of my video, you can see the calf's face -- it looks like he/she has gotten into eye liner and done quite a job!

We didn't seem to get a picture with the little heads starting to pop up, but you may be able to see how the grass is kind of "lumpy" and how a small calf could nestle down beside a clump of grass and be essentially hidden.
