A visit to see Mom

On Friday, we were heading into the area near Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) to meet up with some of Carl's former co-workers for lunch... we arranged to go a little before lunch time to visit Carl's Mom and see some changes that are being made in her living facility.

One of the folks on staff at Windsor had agreed to meet us there, and she took us to see the new room where Mom will be moving. Windsor was building a new assisted living area when we were here last year - it has since opened, and is already full. They are now renovating the "legacy" (don't use the word "old" in a senior living facility!) rooms and placing folks into them as they are completed (so the currently occupied "legacy" rooms can then be renovated).

Her soon-to-be room...

Bathroom -- there is a roll-in shower over to the left. No medicine cabinet and no storage under the sink... where are you supposed to keep your tooth brush and toothpaste and hair brush and other bathroom items?

The renovation took the closet out and replaced it with a "kitchenette" (there will be a small refrigerator and microwave put in the open spot on the left) and small cabinet/closet for clothes. Not sure where all the things in Mom's closet are going to go...

We continued on our tour into the newly built area -- the part that had been under construction last year. This is a small seating area and fireplace next to the dining area.

The dining area is very nice with good outside light.

We found Mom involved with an enrichment activity (I think they were using the balls for a type of exercise).

We went back to her room to visit for a little while...

I have a number of pictures of Carl with his Mom...

It was a short visit this time -- we hope to be able to visit her again and hopefully eat with her at the Grill in Windsor's first floor lobby.

It is always good to be able to visit with family!

We also enjoyed our lunch with Carl's former co-workers from Fermi and a visit with Scott and family -- but unfortunately no pictures from those!
