Both of our driver's licenses were to expire in 2026, and Texas allows you to renew them for up to a year before, and up to two years after they expire. We could renew them online, but we had read that we could only renew online once and then we'd have to do it in person. We had also heard from another RVer that our specific type of driver's license, Class B non-CDL, could not be renewed online. We aren't sure that we will be back through Texas in 2026, and we don't know what life will look like for the next time it would need to be renew. We decided that, if we could, we should go ahead and renew them in person when we were in Texas in 2025. I was able to make an appointment for both of us at the Carrollton Mega Center for a date during which we were booked to be staying in the Dallas area, so, on Monday, we went to get our licenses renewed.
We had gotten emails early on Monday morning that their credit card processing was not working so we needed to bring cash or a check, and when we got to the center, it seemed that their television screens that would tell you which processor to go to weren't working either -- so a guy called out numbers and then sent us to available processors. Even with these challenges, we were able to get through the process relatively painlessly.
We didn't take any photos of the building or process,

We have temporary (paper) licenses for a couple of weeks before our more permanent licenses are sent to our mailing address. The licenses were renewed for 8 years, and since we renewed them early, we have almost 9 years (to our birthdays) before we need to renew them again!
