Silverleaf

While in the Chicago area, we received a package by mail containing the connector equipment to be able to hook the Silverleaf device (VMSPC) in Gracie:

We had the interface device but needed the appropriate wiring for Gracie.

Carl did a *great* job configuring the display with variables that he felt would be useful to have about Gracie's engine performance as we were driving. I took the above screen image when we were stopped after having reached the campground driving from Big Rock to Paul Wolff a couple of weeks ago - thus a lot of 0 values.

When we drove from Big Rock to Clinton, Indiana, while I was driving, Carl took the tablet device at the passenger seat with the thought that he might make some modifications as we drove. But... he decided that it would be easier to take a photo of the on-the-go values to identify where there were some issues (e.g. parameters that are not recording values) -- unfortunately the display was a bit dusty, but I think you can still see most of the values when I zoom in on the screen:

The top two numbers are transmission values -- the current value (5) and the target value (6). It appears that we are not getting some values from the OnBoard Diagnostics (Oil temp, Fuel Temp, Trans Output Speed, and Air Inlet Temp) - it is possible that our engine just does not report these values.

Some of the values are in a bit too small font for easy reading as we are driving - these are customizations that we can make to the display. The bottom information is based on the information that the engine knows about its use of fuel -- so I updated it when we fueled to indicate that we had 100 gallons in the tank, and then it decremented that amount as we drove. Unfortunately, it does not measure when diesel fuel is removed by other resources - specifically our generator and one of our heating systems use diesel fuel - so we cannot count solely on the information that we see in this display.

The last 1/3 of the screen capture

I think that we'll find some items that we want to fine tune, and I hope it will help us be more knowledgeable about what is going on as we are driving. I am very thankful that Carl has taken it on for tuning the screen contents and doing research on what we should include!
