Yuma

On Saturday, we drove to Yuma...

One of the things we wanted to do was to have a date shake. I remembered that Dwayne and I had gotten one at a Farm Store along route 95 (the road from Quartzsite to Yuma) and I thought the parking area would be able to accommodate Gracie... I checked the menu and found that they were famous for ribs, so we decided to try it out.

It turned out that Ribs were on special on Saturday (I don't know whether they are available all days or not).

We got our order and took it to Gracie to eat -- we got a "full rack" so we'd have enough for two meals. They were really delicious!

The field next to the restaurant had been recently harvested.

The outside of the restaurant...

Although Gracie fit in the lot... we had a bit of an issue figuring out how she was going to get out of the parking area. There had been a LOT of rain in Yuma a few days ago, and there were large mud puddles and some soft areas on the lot. We walked around a bit and determined that we thought Gracie could make a U-Turn ... and if not, we'd just have to disconnect the Jeep to make it out of the lot. To add to the challenge - you may be able to see a number of motorcycles parked in front of the restaurant. The riders of those motorcycles were eating at tables outside right where we were going to be turning around. I was outside to watch the situation, and they were making comments that they didn't think Gracie was going to make it... but as Carl continued on the turn, she proved that she could and they were impressed!

After a stop at the truck stop for fuel (we used about 1/4 of a tank for heat and generator in the 2+ weeks in Quartzsite), we headed to the Escapee Co-op park in Yuma, Kofa Ko-Op. The park is full, but there are dry camping (boondocking) spots available, so we are in one of them.

The view out our front window -- a desert garden at the corner of the street.

We are hoping that a full hookup site opens up -- there were two folks here before us on Saturday, and one of them got a site today (Sunday) so we are now second in the wait list. It just depends if folks leave whether we'll be able to get a site... we're okay if we stay in dry camp or if we get a full hookup site - there are pros to each of them! So, we're happy where we are for now!
