Around Mesa Spirit

We spent Friday around Mesa Spirit...

Carl called to get a window glass repair person to come and the fellow made an appointment with us for 1pm. He never showed up... we had known of this fellow from Quartzsite last year (2021) where he repaired several windows (broken seals causing fogging) for other folks in our group -- out in the desert in Quartzsite. This year, Carl has called and texted him with little success -- Carl finally reached him by phone earlier this week and we had an appointment for him to come on Wednesday morning to Superstition Sunrise - it was raining, so we weren't terribly surprised or disappointed that no one came, but... we thought there would be a phone call to reschedule. After getting to Mesa Spirit, Carl called again on Friday morning, and the fellow agreed to come at 1pm... but again, no show, no call... We'll need to find a different way to get the window repaired that needs attention...

While waiting for the window guy, Carl decided to get back to a project that we had worked on previously... getting the water softener installed in the bay with the water tanks...

A few months ago, he had acquired a fresh water hose and cut it in half, placing new ends on the newly cut ends: https://journeyinamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2021/07/start-of-next-project-and-walk-around.html

Then, when we were stuck at the NIRVC service center in Surprise, we ran the hoses and got the water softener into place: https://journeyinamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2022/01/getting-stuff-done.html

But, we were unable to check to make sure that all the fittings were watertight because we did not have water service. We went from Surprise to boondocking in the desert in Quartzsite, had a one night stop at full hookups in Ajo, and then more boondocking in Mexico and Organ Pipe National Monument. We tried hooking it up in Ajo but discovered one of the connections was leaking, so decided to wait until a more opportune time to get that resolved (we could hook up to water without the water softener in the system). With Carl's back not being 100%, we didn't get it done at Superstition Sunrise, so Carl started on it on Friday:

He figured that the new wire hose clamp that he had made was the problem, so started by taking it off and putting a new one on...

Since I had never used the Clamp-Tite tool before, I decided to give it a try -- and eventually got a new hose clamp on...

Unfortunately, the connection was still leaking - ultimately, Carl determined that the washer in the hose-end needed to be replaced! It is always the simple stuff, right?

On Friday, we also picked up a schedule of things going on in the park for the month of February - we're only here for a week, but decided that we'd like to participate in activities if we could. There was a free concert on Friday evening - free is good!

The "NoteBlenders" were playing - this is a group of musicians all of whom winter/live in this park. The leader said that the group had existed for at least 17 years as one of the fellows has been in it for that long!

Near the end of the concert, the leader played a Theremin Wave (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theremin). He shared that his father had one that had been given to him (I think the story was that another man in town had purchased it and was unable to make music with it and so gave it to the leader's father when the leader was just a boy) -- a few years ago, the leader of this group found one on Ebay and purchased it and found that he too could play it...

It has a weird sound...

A last video that shows more of the band participating:

It is fun to participate with in-park activities, and the other audience members, who obviously knew members of the band, thoroughly enjoyed it too!
