Friday - Rain and RiuParty

Friday had threatening weather that resulted in a nice rain through much of the afternoon. We again started the day with breakfast at the buffet followed by exercise, dance, and pool aerobics -- though the pool exercises had to be cut short because of the impending rain. We headed back to our room and enjoyed some time out of the sun.

For Friday afternoon, there was to be a "Pink Party" at the "RiuParty" location -- since there are 5 Riu properties here, they share a party location. The Friday party was 3-7pm (as is the Monday party), which better suits our lifestyle than the Saturday and Wednesday parties that are 7:30-11:30pm. Each party has a different color - Pink for Friday, Neon for Saturday, Jungle for Monday, and White for Wednesday. It appears that many people planned ahead and brought appropriately colored clothing... we actually don't have a lot of choices even within our closet in Gracie in those color options... so we did not!

They had bus transportation to the venue, but it was only a 3-5 minute walk, so we decided to walk, even though it was still raining a little. We've been in and out of the pool and the atmosphere is pretty damp here, so we didn't see a lot of difference from any other walking around here!

The description we were provided said:

A new concept by RIU designed to give you the best entertainment with live music, top DJ's, theme parties, shows and performances.

We were expecting music and dancing; we weren't expecting that there were pools there too. The music was very loud, so we didn't end up staying very long...

A picture inside the venue - they had it decorated with pink, and many people were wearing pink. The pools were not very deep - in the center one, there was a beach ball that folks were batting around and foam would drop from reservoirs up above at times. The pool area to the right was elevated and had bar stools and tables in it. We found seats in a higher area under cover so as the rain got stronger, we weren't getting any more damp.

While the guests at the hotel are all ages, it was definitely a much younger crowd at the RiuParty.

They provided a location for guests to take a picture or selfie, so we obliged. Note that I at least had pink on my shirt and Carl had a red stripe on his shirt that could have been taken for pink!

We walked back to our hotel and got a picture of the front of our hotel. It would be prettier with brilliant blue skies, but it still is pretty regardless.
