It rained pretty much all day in Punta Cana on Saturday. We had planned to go to the steak restaurant for supper, but when we got there, it appeared that they were having a special event (a wedding reception?). So we then went to the Fusion restaurant, but, even though it indicated on their sign that they were open on Saturday, it appeared they were not going to open. Our third choice was Japanese... it was disconcerting that we saw several Japanese guests who have been doing stretching exercises in the same class with us in the morning in line for the Spanish restaurant... but I guess they get Japanese food frequently and feel no need to have it on vacation. And... is eating Japanese food in a Caribbean culture anywhere close to a valid representation?

A view of the restaurant before they opened...
We ordered our appetizers, entree, and dessert...
They brought us an additional appetizer... |
From the online menu -- "Gyozas with Ponzu sauce". It seemed to be much like the dumpling-like items that we made at Kim and Jing's home back in July.

We decided to attempt to eat with chopsticks - maybe a new diet technique?
We had each ordered ramen soup with duck for our ordered appetizer... hmmm... how are we going to use chopsticks with this?
We can eat the non-liquid part at least!
I was attempting chopsticks too!
We didn't get a picture of our entrees -- Carl got pork tenderloin and I got shrimp and vegetable tempura.
Our desserts -- mine was a Matcha Tea Kasutera sponge cake with mango ice cream...
... Carl had Passion Fruit and coconut mousse.

We are not any judges of authenticity of Japanese food, but it was all good!
