We came to Kerrville for the 2024 Solar Eclipse with the Wanderlodge Owner's Group. The weather predictions had been for clouds and late afternoon thunderstorms on Monday, so we weren't sure what we would see, if anything.
On Monday just after noon, we joined with other folks in a field in the campground...
You can see that it is quite cloudy...
Every once in a while, a cloud would move enough that the sun would peak through, and you'd hear a chorus of "ooohhhh"s as people raised their solar eclipse glasses to take a look!

This fellow had an interesting setup...
... he had a telephoto lens with a filter attached to his cellphone to take pictures.
Folks lined up in their lawn chairs as if some famous performer was coming to do a show!
One of Carl's pictures when the sun made a brief appearance -- using the eclipse glasses over his lens.
When totality occurred, even though we could not see the sun for clouds,
... lights in the campground went on...
You can see how much darker it was where we were sitting than it had been just a few minutes earlier.
For about 3 seconds, the clouds thinned a little, just enough to get a picture...
... or two, during totality!
Soon after that, it began lightening up again as the sun was no longer totally hidden by the moon (although we couldn't see it, we still experienced the lightening of the area). The clouds seemed to get denser from that point on, but we're glad we got to see as much as we did!
