We had the longest planned drive of our caravan on Thursday, driving from Whitehorse to Dawson City. Not only was it long, but we were told in our travel meeting on Wednesday to expect frost heaves, construction delays, and possible wildfires!
On our way out of Whitehorse -- the DC3 weathervane -- it had turned from its direction when I passed on Wednesday -- I think I read that it will rotate with windspeeds of just 5MPH.

It was a damp dreary morning -- we left the campground just after 7am. We thought that the views would have been so impressive with blue skies and sun!
Along the way, the Milepost (and our trip log) recommended stopping for cinnamon buns at Braeburn Lodge.
It was a pretty little building with quite a lot of activity!

A holdover from COVID days

Cinnamon buns in the display case...
... and on our plate!
We continued along, stopping at an overlook for Five Fingers Rapids...
I had heard about this during the visit to the SS Klondike -- it was one of the treacherous areas along the trip from Whitehorse to Dawson.
We could have walked down to a viewing spot near the rocks, but we elected to enjoy it from above!
Fellow guest Mory decided to fly his drone over to see what we could see by walking down -- Carl avidly watching the pilot's view!
As we continued along, the sky was getting clearer...
... we came to a few construction areas -- one was 7 miles long and we were guided through by a pilot car.
We also came to the spot where there had been forest fires...
It had burned on both sides of the road.
Another construction area
We stopped to view the Tintina Trench...
We read in the Milepost that this is the largest fault line in North America.
About 335 miles later, we made it to our campground in Dawson City by about 4pm and finished setting up by 4:30pm -- a 9.5 hour driving day! Whew!
Later in the evening, many of us journeyed up to "Midnight Dome" for an overlook of the area...

View down over Dawson City (our fellow guest, Mory, was further down the hill taking a picture)

I am now struggling with a cold, as Carl was the preceding days... ugh!
