A Sunday visit with cousins

A few weeks ago, we met up with my cousin George and his wife Cindy in Delaware (https://journeyinamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2021/10/and-weve-arrived-in-delaware.html) - but we were self-isolating so only visited on the porch and forgot to get pictures!

As a result of that visit, I got re-connected with George's sister, Carol. I had seen that she and her new husband had done work-camping in Yellowstone last summer, so I thought that they might be doing some RVing. We made tentative plans that they may come by the farm while we were here this fall. As plans do, they changed a few times, but on Sunday afternoon, Carol and Buddy came by to visit.

This time, Carl cleverly remembered to get pictures *first* so as to not forget! Carol and Buddy...

Jimmy, Carol, and me -- Carol is laughing about not getting the Talley tall-gene.

After lunch, we were all up for a hike around the property... so Jimmy and Regina led us on a walk...

The upper pond behind the house from the dam area...

A view up toward the barn from the upper pond

Looking down toward the lower pond...

There was a heron in the shallows of the lower pond.

Carl had stopped to take pictures... and when he looked for the path of where we had gone, he saw no path (I had experienced the same a few minutes before, and went ahead a little ways to know where the rest of the group was going). I told him to just get down low and come through the growth and he'd make it through...

This is Carl coming out through the growth through which there was no obvious path!

The others were a bit ahead of us, but we could see a path - I think it was a deer path, nowhere near as obvious as a cow path!

We continued on to the west side of the farm - what a beautiful day it was!

Our tour guide pointing out some interesting features (some of our loyal readers may remember that we were feeding a bottle calf last year that I named "Duracell" for her copper color (https://journeyinamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2020/03/monday-on-farm.html) - she is on the far right of this picture, seemingly listening to Jimmy as well)

Regina, Jimmy, Patti, Buddy, and Carol (fyi - I'm pretty sure that the black cow in the background between Jimmy and me is "Mocha" - the other bottle baby we fed when we were here last year (https://journeyinamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2020/05/bottle-babies.html) -- she has grown up a LOT -- I hope to get some other pictures of her for a future blog post)

The tour continues...

We walked through the pasture where Deuce, the bull, is (no pictures of Deuce), and then back to the house. Carol and Buddy got a quick tour of Gracie from the inside, and to see Regina milking. Carl and I got the "beasties" across the road fed - even filling the bin up -- in record time for us! Then it was time for Carol and Buddy to head on down the road. It was SO nice to get to see them! We're hoping that it won't be as long the next time!
