On Friday...
Gracie went into Jimmy's shop for her annual service and maintenance checks... |
We had gotten all the parts we thought we would need in the weeks before.
Oil has been changed, new oil going in...
Access to the top of the engine is via a hatch in the back of the bedroom -- Carl had taken the access panel off...
Removing the cover for the crankcase ventilation system...
... exposing the crankcase breather element -- which we replaced.
Doing a visual inspection for any wear or leaks or anything that looked unusual before closing up the access hatch (and returning our bedroom floor to a floor!).
On Saturday, changing the hub oil in the tag axle.
Checking the starting batteries showed Jimmy that one of the batteries was no longer providing the cranking power needed.
So... we found replacement batteries at a good price at the nearby Advance Auto, and I drove up to get them...
Jimmy taking out the old batteries...
New batteries in place!
In addition to changing the engine oil and the hub oil in the tag axle and the engine batteries, Jimmy greased all the chassis lube points, they changed the engine coolant, power steering fluid, put on two new fuel filters and the oil filter, and they also serviced the generator, changing the oil and putting on new oil, air, and fuel filters. In the process, Jimmy inspected a lot more things (electrical connections, brakes, probably more things that I don't remember). Gracie says she feels like a new rig!
