Cowboy church and Tri-tip

When we went to the Arizona Marketplace on Friday, we noticed that they had information about a Cowboy Church meeting there on Sunday. We've seen Cowboy Churches across the southwest, but had never attended one, so decided to go.

There was a sign as we entered the parking lot directing us to an area in the parking lot away from the marketplace tents. There was a stage and awning set up, and cars were parked around the area (you could either bring a chair or stay in your car). I think this particular Cowboy Church might be different from the norm as I don't think that there is really a "cowboy culture" in Yuma. I think it is more common that they are in areas where actual cowboys may exist, or at least rodeos and western culture.

As the preacher / singer performed, while folks in the chairs might clap or say "Amen", folks in their cars honked to express their appreciation or agreement.

We appreciated being able to go, and would like to visit another one that may be in a more "permanent" location (rodeo arena or barn).

Carl had gotten a Tri-tip at Sam's last week, and he decided to smoke it on Sunday afternoon. It didn't come out exactly as he had planned (he was not able to reverse-sear it)...

... but I thought it came out well, and was very tasty!

Carl continues to enjoy experimenting with his smoker! And I enjoy sampling the experiments!
