Saturday fun

On Saturday morning, we saw on our curren RV park schedule that they had a "Tour de Park" bicycle ride... as we were riding our bikes over to the site where it was to start, I asked Carl if he thought it was going to be a leisurely ride or more like "Tour de France" i.e. a race - we asked when we got there and were assured it would be a relaxed pace ride:

Carl stopped at the end of one of the streets to get a picture of the group as they came around one block and were heading back toward him...

This was at another location -- we all stopped to get a group picture taken -- but we didn't take one with either of our phones...

Here are some pictures from the Araby Acres (the park we are in) Facebook page:

Does it look like we were lost? There was a lady who led the group - she kept it at a nice pace ensuring all could keep up.

Group picture of the bicycle riders (Carl and I are behind a few people so you probably can't pick us out - I am right in front of the second palm tree from the right, and Carl is just left of that palm tree, behind a guy in a greyish-green teeshirt).

After the bike ride, we stopped to watch a little of the end-of-season curling tournament...

It is played a little differently than when it is on ice -- there is no sweeping to help to adjust the movement of the "stone", and the stones are a little smaller. The competition is co-ed - teams of 2, can be two women, two men, or a man and a woman.

In the early afternoon, we went to Dirty South BBQ to get lunch and listen to some country music... Southern Comfort was playing as we enjoyed sitting outside.

We got date shakes - yum!

Carl got a "Slop Pot" -- meat in a bowl/mug with two veggies on top (he got Pulled Pork with Mac & Cheese and Cole Slaw); I got a Pulled Pork sandwich plate that included two veggies - Potato Salad and Baked Beans. We enjoyed it though the meat and the beans were a little spicy for my taste. I prefer the pulled pork that Carl makes on the Traeger, but it is quite a time investment -- 12+ hours.

Entrance to the restaurant and shop - not too impressive...

The black sign hanging on the tree points the way to "Dirty South BBQ".

Their big smokers are right out front -- they do smoked pork (ribs and pulled pork), beef (ribs, brisket, and tri-tip), bison (ribs) and chicken.

Part of the parking area with mountains behind.

We had friends Allen and Donna come over to join us in the evening to enjoy conversation around our fire pit. Other than grocery shopping, we didn't get any "to-dos" done on Saturday, but we had a nice day!
