Heading east

On Sunday, after joining our church family via LiveStream for worship, we started on our way east to meet up with friends Wayne and Amanda on our way to the SKP Christian Fellowship Rally in Wells, Nevada.

We got on I-80 near Roseville, CA and drove up, up, up -- from less than 200' elevation to 7227' where I-80 crosses Donner Pass.

Beautiful views

This lake was so pretty but the glare on the side window made it hard to get a good picture.

Way, way up on top of that hill on the left...

(zoomed in) -- a number of cabins - wow - what a view they must have!

Really interesting article with information about I-80 over Donner Pass can be found here: https://sierramountainpasses.com/northern-sierra/donner-pass-or-donner-summit/

We are staying at a Corps of Engineers campground near Truckee, California. Technically, we are too large to fit here, but Amanda and Wayne had reservations to stay here, we found that there were a couple of campsites we could fit into, so we decided to give it a try. It is a beautiful campground (all boondocking).

Wayne and Amanda pulled in a few minutes after we had gotten parked and they came to our campsite and we had a nice visit. Our campsite has a nice spot for sitting, a picnic table, a place to hang food out of reach of critters, and a bear safe...

This is the view from our campsite - across a meadow - beautiful!

Amanda and Wayne and their dogs, Rae and Roo.

We made a stir-fry dinner together --  Amanda taught Carl that he can use a lot more seasoning than he has been doing - it was yummy!

We'll be caravanning with them to Wells tomorrow - kinda starting our Christian Fellowship Rally a little early! We are looking forward to filling up Gracie and saving about $0.80 per gallon of diesel when we get into Nevada tomorrow!
