On Tuesday we headed south and a tiny bit east to land near Rapid City, South Dakota...
As we left I-94 near Belfield, North Dakota, out the window next to Carl as he was driving...
...we saw a trucker fueling with quite a load of hay!
More North Dakota fields...
Harvesting -- at least two harvesters and a transportation wagon to the truck.
Entering South Dakota -- Carl had been domiciled in South Dakota for almost 5 years... so he said he was coming home!
When we stopped for fuel in Belle Fourche, it was obvious that we'd relieved either North Dakota or South Dakota (or both!) of many insects.
Unfortunately the Jeep got a lot of tar/asphalt thrown up on it as we drove through a long section in South Dakota that had been recently repaved.
The tarred and bugged in our camping spot at Hart Ranch Camping Resort, Rapid City, South Dakota.
Thankfully, the RV park where we're staying allows washing of vehicles, so we washed the Jeep and washed the bugs off the front of Gracie. We then used WD-40 to get the tar off the front and wheels of the Jeep -- we first used a plastic scraper to get the balls of tar off, but that left a residue, and the WD-40 took the residue off. What a mess!
We know that we'll encounter more bugs and grime as we proceed on toward Illinois... but at least we got the worst of the bug goo and tar off!
