Sunday at Sea

We were told on Saturday night to set our clocks ahead one hour. We will be losing 5 hours (maybe 6?) on the cruise across the Atlantic, and they will tell us which nights we need to set our clocks ahead (so we stay on "ship time").

The TV gives us information about where we are and where we are going...

This was Sunday a little before 2pm ship's time -- the arrow is where the ship is, our first port (Friday) is Ponta Delgada, Azores, then another sea day to Lisbon.

Ship's time shows in the upper right of the screen (on this specific channel on the TV). It also shows on the in-room phone.

One of the things we found before the cruise was that even though NCL promotes their "Free at Sea" and all these things you get for "free", then you have to pay too -- like, for free you get 300 minutes of internet (for 15 days) or pay more for the unlimited minutes package, or even more to be able to do things like streaming or videos (premium internet package). Or there are different drink packages that you can buy (unlimited drinks package, unlimited premium drinks package, unlimited Starbucks package, unlimited sodas package). You can buy different shore excursions, and passes for the spa (or specific spa services) or an unlimited spa package.

Anyway... we've been trying to keep fit by using the stairs as much as possible. Our room is on the deck 5, many of the public areas are on 7 (not too bad) but the rest of the public areas are on 12 and 13 (that's a hike!).

That is not a happy face!!!

This is a posed picture!

So, Carl asked me if we could upgrade to the "elevator package". Then we decided we'd better not say that too loudly or it would get implemented -- we're imagining that you'd have to use your cardkey to get onto the elevator or a voice would say, "I'm sorry, you don't have the unlimited elevator package and you've used all your rides for today!"

Sunday afternoon, we headed outside onto the Promenade deck.

That's me.. shivering -- it was chilly and damp!

The other side of the ship was a bit sunnier.

Some information about our ship

The middle of the ship - the Atrium - almost always something going on in this area.

We had gotten two "specialty restaurant" meals included in our fare, so we used our first one on Sunday evening at Cagney's Steakhouse.

Appetizer of Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail for Carl...

... and crabcake for me!

No pictures of the other food, but suffice it to say it was all delicious!

After dinner, we listened to quiet guitar music and singing with Tanya in the Atrium...

... before heading to the Stardust Theater for a tribute show to Freddy Mercury (with Queen) -- neither of us knew much about Freddy Mercury but the lady who did the show and the ship's band who backed her were very good.
