Preparing to enter Canada

We are planning to enter Canada on Wednesday and have been preparing to be ready for the entry. We got Starlink a few weeks ago in anticipation that our Verizon plans will not give us the internet we would like to have. We have been figuring out which credit cards will not charge us additional fees for foreign transactions. We have reservations made at campgrounds and Harvest Hosts.

Talking with some other folks at the campground in Mt Desert, we found out that uncooked chicken can be an issue at the border. We were also concerned as to whether uncooked pork could be an issue, particularly if it was not in hermetically sealed packaging (this was an issue when we returned to the US from Mexico).

Regardless of the fact that the weather prediction was for horrendous rain (that happened overnight Saturday into Sunday), Sunday was a beautiful sunny day.

Carl cooked up some sausage that we had, as well as chicken breasts, outside, enjoying the nice weather. We then put the cooked meat back into zipper freezer bags and into the freezer -- they take up less room, and hopefully will give us no issues in crossing the border.

The last time that Dwayne and I crossed into Canada by this border crossing, the only thing we were questioned about were guns -- about 4 different ways, "Do you have any guns?", a little later, "How many guns do you own?", then "You do understand that if you bring guns into Canada there are extreme penalties, etc.?", "You are sure that you have no guns?" We figured that, since we have Texas plates, we might get questioned a little more closely on guns, but maybe they won't ask us about meat!
