Re-visiting some places from Carl's past

Last Sunday (a week ago), we met up with friends, Candace and Greg, to visit the church to which Carl and Sue had belonged early in their marriage...

Inside the sanctuary

The pastor preaches at multiple campuses, so he does a recording during the week to provide context for the sermon prior to his physical arrival at the church. In this video, he was at the Lou Malnati's location which is located in a the old Naperville firehouse. He related how this building had been used for people who were in the business of saving lives, and now is used for the purpose of gathering and enjoying friendship. He posed the question of what the church's primary role is -- leading people to life-saving truth, or being friends? It was a very engaging intro to a very engaging sermon!

After the service, we joined Candace and Greg and additional friends Carl and Sue (yes, Carl and Sue were friends with Carl and Sue many years ago!) for lunch and reminiscing. The two Carls had taken a memorable canoe trip to the Boundary Waters back in 1988.

After lunch, we drove through the neighborhood where Carl and Sue had had their first house built soon after they were married...

We just took pictures from the street...

Many memories in that house!

I get to learn more about Carl when visiting places and friends from his past!
