On Wednesday, when we had returned from tedding the hay across the road, Jimmy was cutting hay on the orchard grass field (the one we had "ridden" along with when he was seeding with the no-till drill a few weeks ago:

He noticed that the calves in the pasture next to the field where he was cutting were closely looking at something... and thought he saw a fawn going across the yard next to the house. He stopped cutting and called for us to come over... he had lost sight of where it had gone - thought that it might have hidden by lying down in some tall grass... but found that it had stumbled into the stairwell down to the basement:

It was keeping still down there, but seemed to be okay... |
Jimmy went down and picked it up to bring it out:
It made an awful racket when he first picked it up but we didn't get that on video.
When he let it go, it ran down toward the brush that is around the pond; it stumbled a few times, but seemed to be okay.
Never a dull moment around the farm!
