Preparing the produce patch

Jimmy and Regina provide a plot of ground for a "Produce Patch" that members of their church help to work to grow produce for "Feed More" in Richmond (https://feedmore.org/). The ground was ready for further preparation a few days ago, so Jimmy enlisted us to help out.

First, Jimmy needed to till the ground - he was hooking up the tiller...

And away he went!

Wow! That does a great job of tilling up the soil! It made the soil loose and pliable.
Then the plan was to put down "mulch" - a material that is laid down on the ground with a special applicator machine:

When it works, it works really nicely!
On Saturday, it mostly worked nicely...
We put down 19 strips on Saturday...

We didn't get them all quite even at the ends, but they were ok...
We helped with laying 19 more rows on Monday, which I think is all that is needed for the planned plantings for this year.
