The training of a farm worker

Apologies for the large number of videos, but I hope you'll enjoy them!

Jimmy cut hay on Monday, so he started the serious process of skilling up additional farm workers on Tuesday...
He started with "Tractor Driving 101" in the pasture where there were relatively few hazards to avoid...
Well... there were plenty of "cow patty" hazards and he warned us that if we drove over them fast the tractor tires could sling the material pretty far... so we were careful about fast driving...

Initial driving lesson:

First solo flight:

He is looking confident!
Wow! Look at him go! (please excuse the longish hair...):

...looking ready to go after about an hour of practice...
Carl was busy with some other activities on Tuesday afternoon (refrigerator repair in the rig, more on that later), so...
Patti "tedding"

Even though I grew up on this farm, I never really participated in the tractor driving activities, so this was a learning experience for me as well!
On Wednesday, Carl got to put his newly developed skills to work *in* the field...

That's him way down there "tedding"...

Zoomed in a little closer...
I love this video because you can hear him "Woo-hoo!" as he makes the turn:

He told me that he "Woo-hoo"d at each turn!

This one is a little closer so you can see the tedder a little better:

From my Google search, I found that to "ted" is to "turn over and spread out (grass, hay, or straw) to dry or for bedding",

Middle English: from Old Norse tethja ‘spread manure’ (past tense tadda ), related to tad ‘dung’.
