Chickens

Some of the chickens here are pretty distinctive in the way that they look....
This is a Lavender Orpington

To me, she looks like an older grandmother with her shawl pulled up around her neck.

I think this is a Chocolate Orpington. She was napping in the chicken house.

Some of the chickens were "donated" to Regina when their owners decided that they were no longer interested in raising them. Some were given with the plan that they would be used as meat for the church's Brunswick stew because they had stopped laying... but when they started getting care and sufficient feed, they started laying again and have been good egg producers!

I think this is a Silver Laced Wyandotte. Her feathers are so pretty!

I liked this picture of her coming out of the chicken house!

We get to hear the chickens many times during the day (crowing, clucking, announcing when they have laid an egg), in addition to enjoying their plumage.
