Sunday to Kanab, Utah!

On Sunday we drove from Las Vegas to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary outside of Kanab, Utah. We took a bit of a round-about route, going from Nevada into Arizona (northwest corner) into Utah then back into Arizona before returning to Utah near Kanab.

Link to Google maps here. You may notice that it indicates a shorter distance but slightly longer time that looks more direct... but that goes through a tunnel in Zion National Park that Gracie would, ahem, have difficulty traversing...

Before leaving Thousand Trails, because it was predicted to be windy on our trip, we wanted to secure the awning. Not only did this require a climb onto the roof, it also required crawling under the branch of this tree...

We used not only the ball-and-bungee to secure it, but we also had gotten awning straps (we got two sets, one from Amazon and one from Camping World) and put them on as well. The awning straps (black, hard to see) are a LOT easier to install, and I think they are probably more reliable than the ball-and-bungee, so I think we may just use them in the future.

I was trying to get a picture of a billboard...

We are wanting to upgrade our batteries to Battle Born Lithium batteries(https://battlebornbatteries.com/about-lifepo4-batteries/), but we kept on seeing signs around Las Vegas for Battle Born Injury Lawyers!

I-15 traveled along the Virgin River --

just enough room for the highway carved out...

It was a beautiful drive

Since we were at the river, it did not increase in elevation much along in this area, though we ultimately climbed about 3000' in elevation.

There's the Virgin River next to the highway.

After our round-about route, we got to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary...

Some information plaques are around the Welcome Center where we went to check in.

We looked into volunteering before coming, but all their shifts were full.

Ah, yes, that explains it!

We are hoping to go on some tours and hikes while we are here. Carl is hoping that we don't have a dozen more cats in Gracie by the time that we leave!!!
