We had arranged that Patti's friend and former co-worker, Barb, would visit while we were in Ludington, and she was able to come on Tuesday.
While we were having lunch, the turkeys that we had seen a couple of days ago came strolling by...
... between our site and the one behind us...
... totally unconcerned that we were eating chicken, one of their distant cousins.
Carl thinks that we could fit one into the Traeger smoker... they did not seem to be concerned at all!
Barb and Patti - we had SUCH a nice visit. So glad that Barb is now retired!
Carl and I decided to go for a walk in the afternoon -- it had turned out sunny, and we wanted to see if the path that leads to the lighthouse (that we hope to take on Wednesday, either walking or biking) had access across the dunes to the lake. We could hear the lake, so we tried crossing the dune that was in front of us...
... *that* dune...
... led to another dune...
... and that one...
... to yet another... and so on...
... until we finally could see the lake.
One more dune to cross.
We made it!
Instead of crossing the dunes to return, we walked down the beach to the beach house that we had visited on Monday and enjoyed sitting on its second-floor porch benches...
There was a guy flying a kite - we were wondering if he was going to do kite-surfing...
It was very windy, and he seemed to be working very hard to control the kite -- it did not look like fun to us. Eventually it came down and he dragged it out of the water and gathered up his string/guide wires and left.
We could walk on the roads to get back to our site -- no more dune climbing required!
