A visit to the coast and family

On Tuesday, grandson Roman was scheduled to play a Little League game, so we decided to drive down to Ventura for part of the day.

We stopped for lunch at Snapper Jack's Taco Shack...

... where we had yummy fish tacos with rice and beans.

After lunch, we drove down to the beach, finding a parking space in the lot right next to the beach!

Looking south...

Looking north (or northwest)

Looking out toward the Channel Islands

Obligatory selfie with some of the houses right on the beach behind us.

After a bit over an hour on the beach, we drove to the park where Roman's game was to take place -- we were there a bit early, so decided to take a hike up the hill near the playing field...

Beautiful wildflowers

The baseball field below where we were hiking...

... it was so green and lush...

Obligatory selfie - the ocean is in the far background -- hazy.

Mr Carl on the trail

When we started up this trail, we asked a lady who was coming up the trail after us if it was a loop trail that reconnected to the trail we had started on. She concurred that it was, but shared that the end of the trail, where it joins back in, called The Wall by locals, was steeper than she liked to come down. Undeterred, we headed out on the trail..

It was a great trail until we got to The Wall! We would concur with the lady's opinion -- more steep than we were particularly comfortable hiking!

It was about time for the game to start. As it turned out, they were just having a fun game as, although Roman's team was able to field a full team, the other teams had many players missing due to spring break, and could not field a full team. The team they played against ended up being made up of players from multiple other teams -- lots of different team jerseys on the field!

Good reminders!

Reese asked Papa (Carl) if he would like to go for a walk, and he agreed...

They took the same path we had taken, but in reverse, so they went up The Wall, rather than down it. Carl said it wasn't so bad going up it!

They had a view of the baseball field from their hiking path.

Not that you can see them, but they are up along that ridge taking pictures of us while I took a picture of them!

After the game was finished, we went to the pier to have supper at Beach House Fish Restaurant while sitting upstairs at Made West. It was so nice to get to see Ventura and visit with family!
