Putting the new sliders into the bay to make a drawer for the smoker and other things to be stored upon in order to provide easier access to them made us think about the tool drawer slider that is in the next bay.
Again, I failed to get a "before" picture, but Carl has had his toolbox stored in the small open area at the front of the drawer with the drawers of the toolbox facing where the red boxes are. It made it very difficult to get to items in the toolbox. We talked about moving the toolbox to the bay where we've just put the new sliders in (that "drawer" doesn't have a box so the toolbox would be more available for use), but we also talked about raising up the toolbox and facing it outwards so the toolbox drawers would be accessible.

As a result of the other slider project, we had some wood scraps, so started to see what we might be able to cobble together. The part that we'd cut off from the white boards was just long enough to hold the toolbox. Initially, since we need someplace to store the extra wood until we decide what to do with it, we thought about just stacking those leftover white boards, but they weren't quite tall enough to get the drawers of the toolbox over the tall lip of the pull-out tool slider drawer. However, we found that the solid piece of wood could give us tall enough "legs" to make one of the white shelves work...

White board has had about 1.5" "ripped" off one edge and Carl is nailing it back on top to provide a ledge to prevent the toolbox from sliding off the back.

Cutting the "legs" from the cull piece of wood that we had gotten.
We first glued, and then nailed the shelf to the "legs". Because every square inch of storage is precious, we're using the space that will remain under the shelf for storing rags that we only need infrequently.
The new shelf in place - it fits just under the lip of the pull out drawer which will keep the toolbox from sliding out the front of the drawer.

Toolbox in place.

Another view of the toolbox in place. Note that we have 3 red bins sitting next to it. In total, we have 6 red bins - each with a number on the outside and inventory of contents on a piece of paper taped on the inside of the translucent lid. They are a handy way for us to store things and know where items can be found. We have found, however, that whatever we need is in the bin at the bottom of the stack, furthest back in the drawer, almost every time! It doesn't matter which order we store them, Murphy's Law says that the item we want will be buried...

Now Carl should be able to access the tools in the drawers of his toolbox more readily!
