A time at the beach

Friday was a pretty sunny day...

In the morning...

Carl re-attached the light string under the bed...

... with careful cat supervision!

It was so pretty, and felt warm, so we took our chairs down to the beach in the afternoon:

It was clear and sunny, but a bit breezy and a little cool.

The waves were pretty.

When we had observed the beach from the parking lot above, we had seen people collecting something on the beach. We thought it might be agates (there is a beach north of this area called "Agate Beach"), but had never talked to anyone collecting.

We saw a fellow with a large bucket who appeared to be collecting something, so Carl went over to talk with him. It seemed he was collecting a lot of things but...

... he had what he identified as a couple of agates. Carl held them up to the sun and they were translucent.

Looking north up the beach.

Taking pictures of the waves...

... a picture of the waves!

Walking down the beach looking for interesting things.

A jellyfish washed up -- there were lots of jellyfish - many large (this one was probably about 8" in diameter) and others that were smaller and clear, transparent.

Way, way, way down there is Yaquina Head Lighthouse that we visited a few days ago (https://journeyinamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2022/07/more-of-our-sunday-afternoon-drive.html).

My Carl on our way back to our chairs

A view of some of the rocks and shells on the beach. It appeared to us that there were a lot fewer than we had seen from the parking lot above - I guess they come and go with the tides and stormy weather.

Looking south

It was a beautiful afternoon to be at the beach, albeit a little chilly! Some people (young people) were playing in the waves, but most folks were digging in the sand and making sand castles, or sitting and enjoying the view, as we were!
