Friday around the Chicago-land area

On Friday, we arranged to pick up Carl's mom and take her out for lunch. We had such a nice time that we totally forgot about getting pictures! I'm sure we'll see her again while we are in the area and hopefully we'll remember to get pictures then.

Carl took me to see lots of places of his history - where all of his kids graduated from high school (Wheaton Academy) and where they went to elementary school. The house in Winfield where he and Sue raised their family. We also drove through St Charles and saw the town house where Sue and Carl had lived before they went full time in the motorhome. And, we also visited Sue's gravesite. It was a day with quite a few tears - I was so thankful that Carl shared all of these places with me.

When we got back to the campground, we went on a bike ride in the afternoon. The campground is in the Burnidge Forest Preserve (https://kaneforest.com/location/burnidge), and the path we went on goes through a lot of the areas where there are wildflowers.
There are paths cut through the "wild" areas that Carl told me are kept cut so they can be used as cross-country ski paths in the wintertime.

Such beautiful wildflowers along the way!

On Thursday evening, Carl's son, Scott, stopped by to visit and it was so nice getting to talk with him. Carl and I were surprised (*shocked* might be a better word!) that Miss Kitty immediately "took" to Scott, jumping up on his lap and being fully comfortable with him! So much so, that she almost ignored Carl completely. We wondered if she may have thought Scott was Carl as he was sitting on the couch where Carl often sits. But, who knows what goes on within the minds of kitty cats!
