On Friday, we enjoyed having a day with nothing special needed to get done and nowhere special to go...
I microwaved/roasted some honeynut squash (like butternut but smaller and sweeter) that Carl had gotten when he went to the Davis' farm when we were in Virginia (https://journeyinamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2020/10/a-visit-to-pumpkin-patch.html).
I peeled them after roasting and then made soup - I basically used the same recipe that we had used with the butternut squash earlier in the fall... with a couple of modifications based on what ingredients we had on hand -- thus continuing our habit of never following a recipe exactly so if we like it, or, even if we don't like it, we can never make it exactly the same again! This particular combination we liked!
While we were out bike riding in the Venture Out community, we saw some small colorful birds in an ocotillo plant:
They are hard to see in the pictures (not well focused on the birds), but we're pretty sure that they are Rosy-faced Lovebirds: http://azfo.org/journal/Rosy-facedLovebird2011.html
We've seen them near our site too -- maybe we'll be able to get a better picture one day!
