Bike ride to Sycamore

We had wanted to re-do our bike ride to Sycamore - this time with our e-bikes. We last made the trip in 2020 with friend George (https://journeyinamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2020/08/biking-on-great-western-trail.html). We were hoping that we'd be able to do it again with George, but he had some conflicts, so we decided to go on Wednesday.

I had a doctor appointment in the morning, so, after that, we drove out to the parking area in Wasco where we planned to start. We started a couple of miles closer to Sycamore than we had in 2020 as we were planning to ride round-trip.

Starting out - a beautiful day - though it was a little cool, so before we went far...

... I had stopped to put on my jacket - glad I brought it along! The sign indicates that the trail is part of the Kane County Forest Preserve - which is the group that also owns and manages the two county campgrounds (Paul Wolff and Big Rock) where we generally stay in this area.

The trees are really starting to turn...

... as is our norm, Carl took all the pictures -- I just cannot manage to take pictures *and* ride a bike! Chewing gum and walking is also a challenge!

This time, we decided to ride a little further into Sycamore to the Culver's...

... as their Flavor of the Day was one of my favorites! Caramel Chocolate Pecan!

Carl's burger - yum! We also got fried cheese curds - also yum! No pictures of the frozen custard, but it was also yum!

As we were heading back on the bike path, Carl stopped to take a picture of a guy who appeared to be working on a truck there between the road and the bike path...

He'd been there a long time as he was there when we passed by going out to Sycamore and he was still there when we returned... it doesn't look as if he is making much progress on getting that pickup truck fixed, and he needs to pull up his jeans!

Finally a picture of Carl! (I was stopped and able to take a picture as he rode toward me!)

We biked near the Sycamore Speedway (https://sycamorespeedway.com/).

Such a beautiful day, such a beautiful trail!

The on-bike monitor indicated that we traveled 16.7 miles one way -- so a little over 33 miles. The pedal assist helped us, and our bottoms didn't get *too* sore...
