Another attempt to see the tidal bore

Faithful readers may remember that we attempted to see the tidal bore back in May, at the Fundy Discovery Centre, with no success (https://journeyinamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2023/05/tidal-bore-and-continuing-east.html). Well, this time of the month was supposed to be more auspicious (near the full moon), so we decided to make another attempt, this time at the Fundy Tidal Interpretive Centre.

Entrance to the Fundy Tidal Interpretive Centre

Uhm... this is misleading -- the tidal bore is not this exciting, but, after the tidal bore comes through, the river has all sorts of interesting whirlpools and eddys caused by the incoming tide that the rafting companies can take advantage of... they have an outboard engine on the back of the raft and use it to power the raft to the most exciting places as they come up river.

Walking down to the observation deck of the Fundy Tidal Interpretive Centre, looking at the highway bridge over the Shubenacadie River.

You really need to see the tidal bore "in motion", so I pulled our videos together to produce a less-than-2-minute view: https://youtu.be/XIBkngxo6Ek

One of the things that caused us to go to view the tidal bore at this location was that one of the interpreters from the centre joined the watchers on the observation deck and told us what to watch for... which was quite valuable.

We were glad to have gone, as Carl said, "It was worth the price of admission," (which was free). It isn't as exciting as some of the materials may have led us to believe -- some materials talk about the fact that the tidal change is 16m, the size of a 5 story building, but in reality, that entire volume of water of course does not come in at one moment, but over a passage of a few hours. And we'll hopefully see the 5 story tidal change impact at Hopewell Rocks next week.
