Visit with cousins!

Cousins Cyndi and Bill are escaping the summer heat in Arizona by working in the Acadia area -- Cyndi's dad, Marty, let me know they were going to be here when we stopped in the area in May, but it turned out that they were arriving after we would leave the area. So we decided to come back through the Acadia area when we returned to the U.S. so we could meet up with them!

We celebrated my birthday -- what a ginormous slice of cake!

It was so good to get to see Cyndi and Bill, for Carl to meet them and for them to meet Carl. They live not too far from where we stay in Mesa, so we're hoping to get together with them this winter as well!

We noticed that there was a Radio Shack sign on the mall behind the restaurant -- we thought that all the Radio Shack stores were closed, but this one was even lit up, so Carl went in to check. It was an "interesting" arrangement -- you went in through the outside doors, and then there was a hallway across the front of the building through which you could enter the stores. There was *not* a Radio Shack (there was an athletic club). This is the third time (that I recall) that we've seen a Radio Shack sign but not an actual store - Ashland, WI, Lake Placid, FL, and Ellsworth, ME.

We've enjoyed our second stay in the Acadia area this summer, planning to continue westward to New Hampshire on Wednesday.
