We've been contemplating replacing the kitchen faucet for a while... it has been hard to adjust to a low flow (when we're trying to avoid using a lot of water), and most recently, it has been hard to get turned all the way off (so it drips and wastes water). We did a little research and found that the Home Depot in Ellsworth had a replacement that we thought we'd like, so we went into town and got it.
Miss Kitty was examining the new faucet to determine if she thought she could do the installation. |
The old one... |
Well, it may have been a little more difficult, as the inlet hoses were 1/2" and the new faucet had 3/8" fittings, so we needed an adapter. When I did a search online, one of the adapters that showed up in the search results was specifically listed as an RV adapter. We found that we could get the needed adapter at Home Depot, so another trip into town was needed.
Side note: When Dwayne and I got married, he told me that every home improvement project took 1.43 trips to the hardware store. During our married life, it seemed it was more like 3.14 trips... probably because the requirements changed mid-project with the addition of me to the project. I had shared this with Carl, so we figured if we could get it done in two trips, we were ahead!
After we got back with the adapters, Carl wrapped up the project with no more trips required to the hardware store.
New faucet installed and ready for use! |
The new faucet works a little differently (I used the old one on "spray" setting most of the time, and, while I can put this one on "spray" setting, it will only work if the water flow is pretty high, and it turns back to "stream" when the faucet is turned off) - but it seems to be more adjustable for a low flow and it turns off completely without dripping or wasting water, so we're happy with it.
