Celebrity Solstice - day 4 - Lifou, Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia - part 2

We arrived on Lifou via tender and started walking with then intention of visiting the church on the southwestern edge of the bay...

Celebrity Solstice framed by local flora

A traditional hut in a family's yard (a money making opportunity for them!)

An interesting plant -- what looks like flowers is the part of the leaf closest to the stem being a bright salmon color.

Pretty purple and green leafed plant

Another picture of the Solstice

Tropical hibiscus

The flowers looked like plumeria, but the leaves did not, and it did not seem to have a scent.

The church on the hill

A plumeria near the church

Front of the church (there is a reflection of a structure in front of the church in the windows above the doors).

Information about the church, Notre Dame de Lourdes

Inside the church

Looking back down toward the wharf

Much of the path was shaded for the steps up to the church, but it was still very hot and very humid.

Back down near the wharf we decided to visit the beach area...

I found a rocky ledge to sit upon...

Many of our fellow passengers enjoying swimming and snorkeling

Carl getting pictures for the blog!

We caught a tender back to the ship and got cooled down from our day onshore.

The atrium of the ship goes from deck 3 all the way up to deck 15... this is the upper part...

... and this is the lower part of the atrium (with a band performing in the evening).

Saturday night's entertainment was a comedian/ventriloquist...

Dean Atkinson with his talking dog, Fetch.

He also did a very funny sketch with 3 members of the audience -- I found a video of him doing this sketch on another cruise ship from 2019 if you want to see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HX2onqVeuUU

We had decided to have a late dinner, so were heading to the dining room after the show, when we passed the martini bar where the bartenders were putting on their show...

This fellow was filling a number of martini glasses at the same time...

... and this one was juggling liquor bottles (they may not have been real bottles).

A busy and fun day!
