A Friday bike ride, amongst other things!

We had wanted to go for a bike ride further down "Bark Point Road" (the road that goes between the campground and the lake, and which travels down the length of the peninsula), but it had been windy or chilly on previous days and we weren't inclined to do it until Friday.

Friday morning, Carl got a second Ham Radio antenna up (the green one that is beside Gracie, attached to the power pedestal).

By noon, we got going on our bike ride. At first our route was along Lake Superior and on an asphalt road...

But it ended up more inland with only periodic more distant water views and on a gravel road.

We had thought that we would be able to ride all the way to the point and see out from there, but the land at the end was private property. (Link to Google Map)

We had looked at the elevation changes for the route via Google Maps -- it didn't look too bad, but... climbing that one hill was pretty tough both ways, but particularly heading home (from right to left)!

On the way back, we stopped at the Bark Point Boat Landing, which was on the Bark Bay side of the road.

The water was SO calm!

I don't recall ever seeing a "Dry Hydrant" before -- for fire departments to be able to get water from the lake (https://dnr.maryland.gov/forests/Pages/fire/dryhydrants.aspx).

We enjoyed walking around the area near the boat landing -- preparing for the climb back up that hill!

This house had a trunk available for free... the road is so lightly traveled that I don't know what their chances are of finding someone who would want to take it!

The house had pretty flowers...

It even had flowers growing on the 1st floor rooftop!

Carl is so good at getting pictures of me while biking...

I am nowhere near as good getting pictures of him on the bike...

He flew on past me!

Back at the campground -- some shots of our site...

We are on the end site -- at the busy end of the campground. Everyone who arrives goes to the information board that is right in front of where we are parked.

In the afternoon, we cooked some of the burgers that we got from the beef farm that we visited last week -- Carl put them on the smoker for about 15 minutes and then grilled them -- they came out really red (one has cheese on half of it -- and the table is stained red, but the meat really looked red!) -- we aren't sure what caused that!

Preparing for a campfire later, Carl split some of the pieces of wood that we had gotten from the camp host.

Walking around the campground, we saw this trailer that was flat on the ground - the suspension for the wheels lets it down on the ground. Our neighbors explained to us that it is an ice fishing house! (https://icecastlefh.com/product/8-x-21v-extreme-hybrid-rv) It has holes in the floor that the occupants can fish through, and by putting the whole rig down on the ice, you also spread out the weight.

We shared a campfire with neighbors Pat and Rich that we met this week - they had a bug spray that was very effective and didn't smell so bad as those that we have, so we took a picture so we could remember what it is and buy some!

Another pretty sunset...

We walked down to lakeside as the sun was almost fully set.

What a nice day!
