Ham things

On Saturday, there was a large "Hamfest" (Ham radio swap meet / sales event) at the Mesa Community College so Carl went to it...

A setup at the event

Carl said that it was the largest gathering he had been to at that location - he walked for 1.5 hours pretty steadily up and down the aisles, stopping only briefly to look more closely at a few things -- and he only just covered all of the aisles in 1.5 hours!

He got back to the rig in time for us to walk over to the Venture Out Ham Radio Group weekly meeting. We heard from some of the members about things that they have been doing with Ham radio.

Carl took a "portrait" photograph of a Christmas tree decoration on one of the tables in the room where the Ham radio group meets. (The tree is only about 8" tall. He was just playing around with his phone trying to see if he could make it look like a full sized tree.)

One of the members of the Ham Radio group made us aware of an "interest session" that he is hosting this coming week on succulents. We might go to listen (though it seems that I kill any house plants that we have tried to grow in the rig -- even if I don't touch them!).

We will be joining the Electronics Club and Carl will be involved with the Ham Radio group.
