Start of a project and more storms

We have started the big project of scanning in pictures...

Carl was sorting through pictures to prepare them in groups before I scanned them.

Tuesday, we moved the rig to Paul Wolff Campground near Elgin, Illinois. It was sticky hot... and in the afternoon, another round of storms came through. There were no tornadic storms, but straight line winds up to 60MPH. We were concerned about the window awnings and slide toppers -- we brought in the window awning and decided to bring in our big slide to protect the slide topper... as we prepared to bring it in, we heard an odd sound from fabric of the slide topper and worried that we may have waited too long, but went ahead and brought it in.

The wind only lasted a few minutes, and then we had rain for a while -- when we went outside, we could see that the slide topper fabric was not rolled evenly on the roll, but there was too much lightning in the area and it was too dark to do much inspection.

After the storms moved through, it was just time for sunset, and amazingly, the sun peeked through just enough to give us a brilliant sunset:

Wednesday morning, just before another set of storms rolled in, I took some pictures of the slide topper:

View from the ground - you may be able to detect that the fabric is not rolled evenly...

We think that the fabric was billowing up (the wind was coming from the rear of the rig) when we were bringing the slide in.

The morning storms weren't quite close enough to cause concern about getting on the roof, so I took pictures from above too -- we are hoping that we can borrow a ladder from Carl's son and try bringing the slide part-way in and straightening the fabric.

Now the morning storms have arrived and we have brought in all of the slides and all of the window awnings. Welcome to summer in Illinois?
